Alternative Fall Treats for Warm Weather

Alternative Fall Treats for Warm Weather

For me, the fall season and all of the festivities that go along with it starts as soon as the calendar can be flipped to the month of September. Call me crazy, but I mean, who doesn’t like fall? It’s basically like a warm hug that you never want to let go of. There’s football, crisp weather, thanksgiving, hayrides, apple picking, and soo many yummy fall-inspired treats!! The only problem I’ve had (especially recently) is trying to enjoy all of the delicious and warm classic fall treats while it still feels like Summer outside!

I’ve played around with a couple of my favorite fall treats, to discover and share with you a short list of alternative fall treats for warm weather:

1. Iced Hot Chocolate with milk iced cubes

2. Apple pie bites

3.Frozen Smores

4. Apple Cider Floats

Iced Hot Chocolate

  • ⅓ cup of unsweetened cocoa powder (I’d recommend the Hershey’s or Ghirardelli brand)

  • ½ cup of granulated sugar

  • 4 ½ cups of whole or skim milk

  • Milk for Iced Cubes

  1. Pour milk into an ice tray and let freeze for at least four hours

  2. Place cocoa powder, milk, and sugar in a bowl

  3. fill saucepan and place on the stove on medium-low heat

  4. Heat up the cocoa mixture, stirring occasionally, until it comes to a slight boil

  5. Pour hot chocolate into heat-safe cups, and add ice cubes previously made based on preference (I prefer about a cup)

Cinnamon Apple Crescent Roll bites - Yields 8

  • 1 can of Apple Pie Filling

  • 1 tube of Pillsbury crescent rolls

  • 1 Tbsp. of Cinnamon Sugar

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees

  2. In the meantime, open and Unroll the crescent roll dough, then separate into 8 triangles

  3. Spray a muffin pan with nonstick spray, and place a triangle into each space

  4. Scoop one tablespoon of pie filling onto every piece of crescent dough, then fold both ends overtop

  5. Put the muffin pan in the oven for about 12 minutes, or until the tops are a nice golden brown

  6. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top of the apple pie bites immediately after coming out of the oven

  7. Let the treats cool down for at least 3-5 minutes before enjoying hot, or wait longer if you’d like them less warm or cool.

Frozen S'mores - Yields 12

  • 2 cups of Marshmallow Fluff

  • 24 squares of Graham Crackers

  • 2 cups Milk Chocolate Chips

  1. place 12 graham cracker squares onto on a cookie sheet aligned with parchment paper

  2. Scoop 2 tablespoons of marshmallow fluff and spread it onto each of the squares and use the leftover 12 squares to make sandwiches

  3. Place the sandwiches into the freezer for 20 minutes OR UNTIL FROZEN

  4. Meanwhile, microwave the chocolate chips for 30-seconds and stir in between each interval, until fully melted

  5. Once frozen, dip each graham cracker sandwich at least halfway into the melted chocolate, then place back onto the parchment paper

  6. Freeze the “s’mores” until the chocolate is solid

  7. Serve and enjoy!!

Apple Cider Ice Cream Float

  • 1 cup of Apple Cider

  • 1 cup of Sparkling Apple Cider

  • 1 cup of French Vanilla Ice Cream

  • Caramel Sauce (optional)

  1. Place one cup of plain apple cider and one cup of sparkling apple cider together in a glass and stir

  2. Add one cup of french vanilla ice cream into the glass

  3. Top ice cream with caramel sauce (optional)
